San Joaquin Rare Bird Committee

The San Joaquin Rare Bird Committee (SJBRC) was created in 2020 and consists of the following members:  David Yee (chair), Frances Oliver (secretary), Kurt Mize, Liz West, Jim Gain, Jim Rowoth, and Kasey Foley (alternate).  It exists as a committee of the San Joaquin Audubon Society.

The purpose of this committee is to encourage and develop standards of observation and reporting that will stand the test of time and will be a positive example for other observers. We also aim to increase the knowledge and understanding of the birds of this county. In addition, we intend to develop and maintain the official San Joaquin County bird list.

To date, the committee has received 27 reports for 22 species from 14 observers.  Note: All rejections were based on insufficient or unconvincing details.

If you would like to report rare bird sighting in San Joaquin county to the committee, submit the information by filling out the details at the Report Submissions Page.

The bird species and subspecies on this list that are seen in San Joaquin county are reviewed by the San Joaquin Bird Records Committee (SBRC)
