SUMMARY:Carnegie Night Walk
DESCRIPTION:Meet Kasey Foley at the entry gate of Carnegie SVRA located at 18600 Corral Hollow Road in Tracy for a walk on the wild side.  This walk will be on the ALAMEDA COUNTY portion of the park but it’s a beautiful walk sometimes yielding Western Screech Owls\, Great Horned Owls\, cool scorpions and spiders\, again it’s Alameda County\,\n \n\nThings to keep in mind are there may be bugs so bring bug spray\, sun protection\, dress in layers as it may get cold later\, bring snacks and water as we may be gone for 2-3 hours\, and you may want to bring a walking stick as the footing may not be even and we will be climbing up rock/dirt trails. Be sure to bring a flashlight or headlamp because it will be dark on our way back.  Oh yeah\, don’t forget your binoculars!  Also\, remember there are rattlesnakes in this park so boots are recommended.  The only restroom facilities are at the entrance of the park and maybe at the beginning of the trail (but I’m not sure).

SUMMARY:Annual Chapter Picnic
DESCRIPTION:San Joaquin Audubon Society will hold its Annual Chapter Picnic at Buckley Cove and the Stockton Sailing Club on Saturday\, May 20\, 2023. All are welcome! \n\n\nThe meeting and activities are open to all members and nonmembers who love birds.\n\nDetails are as follows.  In the morning of the event\, there will be two possibilities for bird watching. It has been arranged that a field trip into the Pace Preserve (aka Waldo’s Mud Puddle) will occur.  Amy Ritchie\, a manager of the Preserve\, will meet us at 7:30 a.m. at the gate of the closed levee road leading to the Preserve.  From there\, we will carpool as close to the Preserve as possible. We plan to bird mostly the periphery of the Preserve\, until about 10:30\, at which time we will head back to the Stockton Sailing Club for the picnic and annual meeting.  It is important that all who plan to participate in the Pace Preserve field trip to print and sign the attached liability waiver.  If you cannot\, forms will be available at the site.\n\nSecond\, those who plan to attend the meeting and picnic are welcome to bird the area around Buckley Cove on their own.  Start when you wish\, but plan to end around 10:30.\n\nThe Annual Meeting and picnic will be held in the “Retreat Area” of the Sailing Club.  There is a gate at the entrance to the Club. It’s on the left and clearly signed as you enter Buckley Cove. Don’t proceed to the ticket booth to enter the Park\, you have gone past the entrance to the Sailing Club.  Just wait at the gate and we will have someone to let you in. Again\, all are welcome and there is no cost for participating.  Bring picnic food for yourself or for sharing.\nIf you have questions about the venue or need directions\, contact dfries.audubon@gmail.com.\n\n\n\nIn the interest of public health\, this will not be a potluck picnic\, as it has been in years past. We request that each of you bring your own food. If you decide to bring something to share anyway\, please make sure it is individually wrapped. We will provide tables and a few shade structures\, but please bring your own chairs so you will have somewhere to sit while eating and listening to the Board meeting.\n\nContact Donna if you have any questions at 209.403.4270.
