SUMMARY:Carnegie Night Walk
DESCRIPTION:Meet Kasey Foley at the entry gate of Carnegie SVRA located at 18600 Corral Hollow Road in Tracy for a walk on the wild side.  This walk will be on the ALAMEDA COUNTY portion of the park but it’s a beautiful walk sometimes yielding Western Screech Owls\, Great Horned Owls\, cool scorpions and spiders\, again it’s Alameda County\,\n \n\nThings to keep in mind are there may be bugs so bring bug spray\, sun protection\, dress in layers as it may get cold later\, bring snacks and water as we may be gone for 2-3 hours\, and you may want to bring a walking stick as the footing may not be even and we will be climbing up rock/dirt trails. Be sure to bring a flashlight or headlamp because it will be dark on our way back.  Oh yeah\, don’t forget your binoculars!  Also\, remember there are rattlesnakes in this park so boots are recommended.  The only restroom facilities are at the entrance of the park and maybe at the beginning of the trail (but I’m not sure).

SUMMARY:Blue (Super) Moon Night Walk
DESCRIPTION:Meet Kasey Foley at the gate at the White Slough Wildlife Area (at the north end of the I-5 Frontage Rd west of I-5 and south of Hwy 12) or you can meet to carpool at Starbucks (corner of Thornton Rd and W Banner St at Flag City) at 5:45 pm.  The road is extremely rough to drive down and it will be dark when we leave so be sure to have a high clearance vehicle or carpool with someone who does.  Do NOT plan to park outside the gate as your car may be vandalized.  It’s even possible it can be vandalized inside the gate but we’ve been lucky so far.\n\nThings to keep in mind are there may be bugs so bring bug spray\, sun protection\, dress in layers as it may get cold later\, bring snacks and water as we will likely be gone for 2-3 hours.  The road is flat and hopefully the weeds will have been mowed down along the road.  Be sure to bring a flashlight or headlamp because it will be dark on our way back.  Oh yeah\, don’t forget your binoculars!  The only restroom facilities are at Flag City markets or gas stations.

SUMMARY:McDonald Island Birding
DESCRIPTION:We have permission to bird on McDonald Island on Sunday\, April 16th.  We’ll meet at 8:00 a.m. at the bridge to the island and go in as a group. For directions\, it’s best to Google Tiki Lagoon Marina.  Maybe bring some water and a snack as we might bird into early afternoon. \nThose who wish to go should email David Fres at dfries.audubon@gmail.com\, as access to the island is restricted and we need to go in all together. It’s okay to invite anyone else whom I have left off this email. They should just let me know so we can wait for everyone at the bridge.
