Silver Lake Field Trip

Meet field trip leader, Kasey Foley, in the parking lot of Young’s Payless Market, 18980 N Highway 88, Lockeford, CA at 6:00 AM to carpool or meet at the Plasse Resort, 30001 Plasse Rd, Pioneer, CA (38.64096, -120.1260) parking area at Silver Lake at 8:30 AM. Parking at the Plasse Resort is $10/vehicle. We will probably stop at Peddler Hill to look for Green-tailed towhee and other area specialties. Possible birds to see on this trip are Hairy woodpecker, Steller’s jay, Western Wood Pewee, Warbling vireo, Golden-crowned kinglet, Red-breasted nuthatch, Mountain chickadee, Western tanager, Bald eagle, Osprey and if we’re lucky maybe some Hermit warblers.
This will be an all day trip so bring lunch or snacks, plenty of water, sun protection, insect repellent, sturdy boots and hiking sticks, if you use them. Be prepared for changing weather conditions.
