Indian Grinding Rocks SP Field Trip
June 13 @ 8:00 am - 12:00 pm
Join leader Donna Marciano for a day of birding at this beautiful State Park. We should see many species including Turkey Vultures, Scrub and Steller’s Jays, California Quail, Acorn and Hairy Woodpeckers, Northern Flickers, Hermit Thrushes, Wild Turkeys, and Black capped Chickadee. With the warmer weather upon us, many of the bright colors of the Western Tanager, Bullock’s Oriole, Calliope and Anna’s Hummingbirds can be seen in the nearby woods around the meadow. A bird list is available at the museum. Trip goes until 12 or 1 PM, so bring water, hat, sunscreen and a lunch for the small picnic area. There will be some light to moderate walking. Restrooms available, there is a park entrance fee of $8.00/car. Meet at 8am in the State Park parking lot. If you would like to carpool, meet at the Payless Market in Lockford at 7am.
